I absolutely love your methods! Laundry has become total chaos for me with three kids. I don't have a dryer yet, and the balcony just isn't enough anymore. After constantly dealing with questions from my husband and oldest son like "Is this washed?", I've decided to get a dryer. Space is tight, so I'll have to put it in the hallway, but your idea of a shelf and box system next to the machine makes so much sense! I'm definitely going to try this. Thanks so much for sharing, this was life-saving! 🤗

Thankyou! I hope the dryer makes your life easier! Ours is really slow sadly, but luckily its summer so everything gets dried on the line in the garden currently anyway!

Thanks! 🤗 Ideally, they should be dried in the garden, but for a large family, a tumble dryer is a necessity.

You are brilliant!!! This makes so much sense. Laundry is such an issue and every household. I want to call my parents and tell them “hey, we should have tried this 20 years ago”.

I really love this. With 7 people in our family laundry is a massive job and one that takes a mental and physical toll on me and my eldest daughter who do all the laundry. I think your method would work for us also! Were currently storing our laundry mountain of clean but unfolded and sorted clothes on our dining room floor until we sort it and send the piles to bedrooms. The bins make a lot more sense!

My life goal is to have a designated utility room. I hate that we keep washing machines in the kitchen in the UK.

I love how you've simplified it for yourself in a way that works for you.

When my son was potty training, I kept most of his spare pants and some shorts near the toilet. It was a game changer, for sure.

I've also kept two tubs in the corner of our dining area for each of our kids since the 2nd baby was born...I simply drop the clothes from the drying rack straight into their tubs. My toddler changes clothes like 4 times a day and I also needed my babies clothes on hand easily rather than having to walk upstairs to bedrooms every time. Although now 2.5years later I'm considering getting a wardrobe setup sorted as I seem to be picking up clothes off the floor about 500 times a day 🫪

Suchhh a good idea! I might steal this one, but I promise I won't trademark it. It's all yours!

I love this system! We have a small apartment so no space for this level of organisation, but my kids clothes are also stored in similar boxes so I just throw them in too 🤣

A laundry station sounds amazing! Our house is one story but I’ve been trying to find simple hacks to make laundry easier and this is great inspiration!

I love it! This makes so much sense and also so much easier. It is crazy how much clothes you need to watch when you have a big family 😅. I do it every two days, small loads and fold right away and then each kids take it and put it in their place. But I definitely like your method and I might give it a try haha thanks for sharing

OH MY GOSH! This is brilliant! My baby is in peak blowout era & my toddler is potty training and i'm drowning in laundry! i'm stealing some of these tricks

An absolute life saver for these situations!

I love this idea!!, I hate doing laundry because as soon as you get it all done, the basket fills up again 😩

Raising Bigs | Beyond Babies's avatar

Tis one of those never ending chores isnt it!

Yess!! 😩😩

Heck yeah! This is the kind of creative problem-solving I love to see! I remember a part in How to Keep House While Drowning about not folding baby onesies and I was like yeah why am I folding my underwear??

Keeping things closer to where you use them is brilliant, and giving max responsibility to the kids 💯

Thanks Anne! I basically fold nothing these days which is a relief!

My favorite now is just laying everything that might wrinkle flat in a laundry basket and I wear it from there!

I also started paying attention to washing tag symbols and fabrics so I can avoid buying things that tend to wrinkle 🥰

I need this for my husband’s “half used clothes” that are good to wear again, but he won’t put them back in the closet (hence, the pile of questionable clothes on the bedroom floor) 😏

Great idea though!! Thanks for sharing

The pile of half used clothes is a mountain in itself! lol
